          On April 26, 2022, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee, Director of the Center for Academic Service, Walailak University, and Mr. Wiroj Dechkliang, Ta Chana District Chief, warmly welcomed delegates appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation as a committee for the after-action review of the U2T project of Surat Thani’s subdistricts. The subdistricts supervised by Walailak University are Ang Thong subdistrict, Lipa Noi subdistrict, Taling Ngam subdistrict, Bo Phut subdistrict, Mae Num subdistrict, Takrob subdistrict, and Wang subdistrict.

          The delegations were Asst. Prof. Dr. Chettha Sapyen, Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Dhonburi Rajabhat University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warangkana Chankong, School of Health Science, Sukhothai Thammathirath Open University, Mrs. Wanida Boonnakka, Director of the Office of Technology Promotion and Transfer, and Mr. Methee Limniyakul, Science, Research, and Innovation Promotion and Utilization Division. This visit aims to attend the U2T Exhibition held by Walailak University, through the Center for Academic Service.

 

 

          In the exhibition, the staff working in the region together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Waluka Amaek, Lecturer of the College of Graduate Studies, presented various aspects of the subdistrict’s development, which are as follows:

 

  • Social capital, community economic potential, and basic information of Wang subdistrict.
  • Development strategy and processes.
  • The promotion of sustainable use of marine resources by expanding the development of the Blue Crab Bank.
  • The enhancement of local products such as dipping sauce, shrimp paste sauce, Thai sweet shrimp paste, and so on.
  • The development of health promotion for increasing community economic potential.
  • The project impacts leading to environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

          Moreover, the project was conducted in response to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, providing access to expertise and sustainable knowledge as well as technologies in agriculture to local farmers, SDG 4: Quality Education, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, SDG 14: Life below Water, conserving and using the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development, and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals: Establish cooperation with both the public and private sectors.

 

          On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee offered the products developed under the project to those honored delegates as tokens of appreciation for attending the exhibition. At the end of the exhibition, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee reported the operating performance of the project. The delegations will report on the project’s outcomes, obstacles, and propositions to the Ministry in the future.
