Walailak University Joins Workshop on Southern University Network for Social Engagement

MUEANG, TRANG, 19 – 20 March 2026 — Walailak University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President for Administration and Sustainable Development; Asst. Prof. Dr. Amornsak Sawasdee, Director of the Center for Academic Services; and staff of the Center for Academic Services, participated in a workshop titled “The 1st Southern University Network Collaboration Forum.”

The forum was organized to strengthen collaboration in university–society engagement and served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and sharing operational approaches among a network of 12 universities in Southern Thailand: Walailak University, Thaksin University, Prince of Songkla University, Princess of Naradhiwas University, Hatyai University, Fatoni University, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Suratthani Rajabhat University, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University, Phuket Rajabhat University, Songkhla Rajabhat University, and Yala Rajabhat University.

The event featured a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Suwat Tanyaros, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, followed by an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Narin Hiransuthikul, MD, President of the Association for University Social Engagement Thailand (EnT).

Additionally, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amornsak Sawasdee facilitated a session to exchange directions and approaches for advancing university–society engagement. The session aimed to further develop the Southern University Network for Social Engagement (SUNSE – Empowering Communities, Brightening the South) to enhance its effectiveness and impact.

In this regard, Walailak University has been honored to host the 1st Southern University Network for Social Engagement Academic Conference, which aims to strengthen the network and advance university–society engagement in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference is scheduled to take place in September 2026.
