THA SALA, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 20 August 2026 — Walailak University (WU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wararat Whanchit and Dr. Pushpraj Singh, lecturers and researchers from the School of Liberal Arts, together with students from the School, organized an educational outreach program to enhance English language skills among female Muslim members of the Ban Nai Thung Blue Swimming Crab Bank Learning Center.
The program focused on developing English language skills relevant to participants’ daily lives and occupations through practical learning and language practice based on real-life situations. The learning content emphasized food sales, introducing food menus, and providing information about local attractions, enabling participants to apply English vocabulary and conversational expressions when communicating with customers and tourists with greater confidence and in ways appropriate to the local community context.
The program also provided students with an opportunity to integrate their English language knowledge with practical experience and community-based learning. In addition, an English Guidebook for Community Careers was developed to support participants in reviewing the lessons and continuing their learning independently. The guidebook includes essential vocabulary, conversational expressions, and examples of English usage in situations related to food sales, introducing food, and providing information about local places, helping extend the learning outcomes of the program into practical applications in everyday life.
The project contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting lifelong learning and skills development, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among the university, government agencies, and community networks to support educational and community development. The activity also supports the “WU HAPPY TREE” framework in the area of education.
