On August 18, 2021, a Chumchonmai School led by Director Faisal Yeekob, received a plaque for the best award being selected for the Best Practice in performance management for “Development of Sufficiency Economy Learning Center by the King’s Philosophy, Chumchonmai School” for the fiscal year 2021 from Nakhon Si Thammarat Primary Educational Service Area Office, District 4.

Upgrading the development of the Sufficiency Economy Learning Center by the King’s Philosophy, Chumchonmai School is a driven operation in conjunction with the Chumchonmai School, Walailak University. The Academic Service Center has cooperated with various schools such as School of Languages and General Education, School of Liberal Arts, School of Science, School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, etc. This project receives a budget in part to support the integration of assignments toward communities (Social Engagement) along with network partners from the government and private sectors, which has been ongoing.

Back then, the beginning of the Chumchonmai School started with the administrators and teachers interesting in learning management processes and learning resources to provide the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy that can create learning, life experiences, and link to professional training both agricultural and business administration skills in 2018. “Constructing a Learning Center” was therefore initiated and developed into a Sufficiency Economy Learning Center by the King’s Philosophy for lunch by aiming for a response to provide sufficient food supplies for student’s lunch with complete nutrition as well as being safe for students. Later in the year 2020, they began to link teaching and learning of students integrated with learning outside the classroom, “Developing the learning center coupled with the integrated curriculum of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy model” until the (draft) model program was born. In consequence, the students could gain knowledge of sufficiency economy and use it to build their own career to generate income for themselves. The school had enough raw materials to prepare lunch for students, and there was the development of the learning center to have a learning-based approach consistent with the curriculum. In 2021, it had carried out ” Development and Implementation” to become the Sufficiency Economy Learning Center in the school that had developed a curriculum integrated with the philosophy of sufficiency economy along with building networks, transferring knowledge, and disseminating to the surrounding community schools.

Such actions can have a concrete impact on academic services and are consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals: SDGs. For example, Goal 1 “No Poverty”, end poverty in all its forms everywhere, Goal 2 “Zero Hunger”, end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture, Goal 3 “Good Health and Well-being” ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all especially in youth, Goal 4 “Quality Education”, ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and Goal 17, “Partnerships for the Goals”, build cooperation with networks and agencies involved, integrate, and create cooperation both within and outside the university.

In this regard, the Academic Service Center, Walailak University would like to congratulate Chumchonmai School, a partner with the university, on the occasion of receiving such award, and we are accessible to join in driving towards sustainable development goals in the future.
