On Tuesday, 28 December 2021, Miss Piriya Chonsut, Miss Palika Wetchakul, Dr. Sineenart Sanpinit, and Dr. Thana Juckmeta, lecturers at applied Thai traditional medicine, School of Medicine, Walailak University under collaboration with the staff of the Center for Academic Services organized a public outreach program titled “Social Engagement Service in Dimension of an Improvement of Thai Traditional Medicine for Community Health Promotion” at Chumchon Sathit Walailak Phatthana Tambon Health Promotion Hospital, Thai Buri subdistrict, Tha Sala district, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The program focuses on health care with Thai traditional medicine through personnel and community leader development in the fields of pharmaceutical science, medical treatment, and Thai Traditional Therapeutic Massage and Manipulation, and provides public health services to target people, such as bedridden patients, patients with chronic diseases, and so on.
In addition, it conforms to Sustainable Development Goals in goal 3: “Good Health and Well-being” and goal 17: “Partnerships for the Goals” aimed at promoting well-being for local residents and establishing cooperation with various organizations in Thai traditional medicine development respectively.
In this regard, Miss Piriya Chonsut and the staff explained the operational guidelines in advancing the Thai traditional medicine clinic at Chumchon Sathit Walailak Phatthana Tambon Health Promotion Hospital.
The following are the operational guidelines:
- 1. Develop the herbal garden to subsidize Thai traditional medicine services.
2.Develop personnel and community leader through Thai traditional medicine promotional activities or a study visit to a center of Thai traditional medicine.
- 3. Provide public health services integrated with Thai traditional medicine to the target people.
Besides, the staff discussed with Mr. Somchok Nongnual, Director of Chumchon Sathit Walailak Phatthana Tambon Health Promotion Hospital, and the relevant officials at the hospital on the guidelines in Thai traditional medicine services meeting the needs of the community, e.g., foot bath, Thai herbal wrap for osteoarthritis of knee and inhalation of herbal vapors, including the guidelines of herbal product development to boost the community’s economic flow. Finally, the staff will bring the data relevant for future analysis and operational guidelines.
