          On Wednesday, 30 March 2022, Walailak University, represented by Dr. Pongpan Compan, School of Management accompanied by the staff of the Center for Academic Service, Walailak University, built cooperation with Mrs. Wareerat Kongpradab, Chief of the Office of Thai Buri Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and the teachers of the Child Development Center in designing and developing learning corners with the HighScope Curriculum.
          The momentous project has been continuously operated under the mission stated, “Providing academic services to develop the communities surrounding Walailak University and help in solving problems within the framework of the holistic area-based community development project in the fiscal year of 2022”. It focuses on developing research to be the information for setting policies involving early childhood education equivalency in Thailand and increasing the completion rate for local early childhood education with HighScope Curriculum, which emphasizes active learning. Walailak University has created partnerships with 392 early childhood development centers under 154 Subdistrict Administration Organizations in Nakhon Si Thammarat to achieve the project with a duration of 5 years. Furthermore, the project supports the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations including, SDG 4 Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals: Build collaboration with both public and private sectors.The university has an uncompromising commitment to achieving the target 4.2 of SDG4 by 2030, ensuring that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care, and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education.
          In this regard, Dr. Pongpan Compan, as head of the project, scheduled a brainstorming session on the teaching and learning management approach, problems, needs, and design of the learning corners with the teachers of the school and the staff of Thai Buri Subdistrict Administrative Organization.
          In the future, Walailak University and the subdistrict administrative organization will bring data relevant for analysis to drive the Child Development Center toward the first model child development center integrated with the HighScope Curriculum in Nakhon Si Thammarat and extend the knowledge to other schools in the province.
