          On March 31, 2022, Walailak University, represented by Dr. Chaweewan Klongsiriwet, Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy, and the working group of the Center for Academic Service, collaborated with the staff of Ban Thung Chon Tambon Health Promotion Hospital to discuss the guidelines for developing Plai Oil and Herbal Mosquito Repellent Spray meeting GMP and ISO standards at Ban Thung Chon Tambon Health Promotion Hospital, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

          It is an ongoing project titled “The Enhancement of Herbal Products to Promote Well-being and Occupation” with the mission of providing academic services to develop the communities surrounding Walailak University and help in solving problems within the framework of the holistic area-based community development project in the fiscal year of 2022.

          The project focuses on applying the knowledge and skills to enhance health care and promoting active engagement of the community to develop the herbal products under strict GMP and ISO accredited quality control standards.

          Moreover, Walailak University operated the project in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, SDG 1: No Poverty, end poverty in all its forms everywhere and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, foster collaboration with both public and private sectors.

          In this regard, Dr. Chaweewan Klongsiriwet, as Head of the project, scheduled a brainstorming session on driving Plai Oil and Herbal Mosquito Repellent Spray towards the highest standards at the national level, processing medicinal raw materials, packaging design, and developing a wide variety of marketing channels to match the customers’ behavior in the digital age. In addition to promoting the herbal products, Dr. Chaweewan also gave advice on financial management and service requests for Thai Traditional Medicine or alternative medicine from the public health facilities.

          In the future, Walailak University will request the certification of Quality Thai Herbal Product from the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Public Health Office.
