On 5 May 2022, Walailak University, represented by Dr. Krittika Kabploy, School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, and the working group of the Center for Academic Service organized a workshop on pig nutrition in Walailak Demonstration Community, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
The workshop is part of the project titled “The Manufacturing System Planning and Management of Swine under High-quality Process and Safety Standards for a Stable Job”. The project has been continuously organized for 3 years with the aim of providing insights into the artificial insemination, heat detection, care, and management of pregnant sows. Furthermore, WU conducted the workshop in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, including SDG 1 No Poverty: End poverty in all its forms everywhere, SDG 2 Zero Hunger: Provide access to expertise and sustainable knowledge as well as technologies in agriculture to local farmers, and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals: Establish cooperation with both the public and private sectors.
In the workshop, Dr. Krittika Kabploy provided knowledge on pig nutrition regarding applying hybrid feeding techniques in growing-finishing pig operations, e.g., the classification of ingredients, use of nutritional supplements, hygienic feeding system, and feed formulation. Additionally, Mr. Sanong Tongyod, Chair of the community enterprise group of swine farm in Walailak Demonstration Community, transferred knowledge about pig fattening techniques and vaccination timing in small pigs and sows.
