          Assoc.Prof.Dr. Warin Intana, Lecturer of School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry Head of Agritech and Innovation Center, Nakhon Si Thammarat revealed that Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives launched AIC Award 2022 project to award the projects or research works meeting demands and needs for national development in economy, society and environment. The selection process brought in projects and studies across Thailand and Walailak University, affiliated with the AIC Center Nakon Si Thammarat also entered the competition.

         Official announcement released on 30 May 2022 testified to excellent research achievements of two Walailak researchers, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amornsak Sawasdee and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Warin Intana winning Excellence Award in Excellent Innovation Award, Economic Innovations and agricultural society respectively. 

          Asst. Prof. Dr. Amornsak and team has been conducting academic services and research to restore abundance of blue crab resources through Blue Crab Feeder Project for the purpose of promoting the livelihood of coastal fishery communities in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Suratthani since 2018. The project has established over 87 Blue Crab Learning Centers overseeing blue crab resource restoration, resulting in the resource’s increase statistically shown. As a result, the community benefited from improved household income following increased blue crab catching. The project also led to community’s sustainable economic flows and a sense of strength as one united community conducive to tourism. 

          Turning to innovation advances addressing agricultural society, Asst. Prof. Dr. Warin and team with the research on Trichoderma 5 Plus + for Plant Disease Control (International Standard Biological Products) Excellent Innovation Award.  Trichoderma 5 Plus + encompasses 6 components to achieve optimal scale of disease control using Trichoderma NST-009, Metarhizium Anisopliae WU-003, Beauveria bassiana WU-002, calcium, magnesium, and chlorophyll components. All the components converge on controlling plant diseases, pests and boosting strengths and imFamunity of plant’s cells and this comprehensive usability can economize on their labor-incurred and other running costs. 

          Agritech and Innovation Center (AIC), Nakhon Si Thammarat operates under supervision of the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry, Walailak University with the goal to push forward the progress in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s agricultural industry competitiveness using innovations and technologies. AIC has been at the community’s service on agricultural technology know-hows, innovations and agricultural machines. In enhancing manpower, the center serves as a headquarter assisting Smart Farmers and Young Smart Farmers of Nakhon Si Thammarat, and supporting research and development, investment and commercial management under the vision “Developing standards of food security for lives and economic progress through agritechs as a global kitchen.”
