Train of Trainer: Building Knowledge and Understanding of Local Fishing Regulations and Processing and Value Addition of Fishery Products

          On January 28, 2023, from 8.45 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee, Director of the Center for Academic Services, representing Walailak University, along with Mr. Charoen Toitae, Head of the Ban Nai Thung Blue Crab Bank Learning Center, participated in the training titled “Train of Trainer: Building Knowledge and Understanding of Local Fishing Regulations and Processing and Value Addition of Fishery Products” via Zoom Meeting.
          The training program was held by the Fisheries Commodity Standards System and Traceability Division and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) with the aim of providing insights and disseminating knowledge on local sustainable fishing, processing, and value addition of fishery products. The sessions of the training include:
          1. The regulations of local sustainable fishing
          2. The relevant laws on local fishing gear
          3. The basic regulations for processing local fishery products
          4. Laws and regulations of the Department of Fisheries on local sustainable fishing and processing of local fishery products
          Upon participating in this momentous program, the attendees were expected to have an excellent overview of local sustainable fishing, identify the environmental impacts caused by inappropriate fishing, including illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, and apply their understanding to address the sustainability challenges of conserving living marine resources.
