CAS Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee Invited as a Keynote Speaker to Share Experiences on the THE Impact Rankings and the Role of Universities in Fulfilling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

MUEANG, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 25 April 2023 – Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee, Director of Walailak University’s Center for Academic Services, was invited by Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University as the keynote speaker with the topic “the THE Impact Rankings and the Role of Universities in Fulfilling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” at the workshop on THE Impact Rankings. The workshop was organized at Nilpayak Chamber, Office of the President, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University.

As a leading researcher and scientist who is a highly skilled professional in marine science and social engagement, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee presented the strategic development planning for the university toward Sustainable Development Goals. He then transitioned to speaking about the sustainability agenda consisting of four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching, which are the duties of a university to participate in THE Impact Rankings. The event received overwhelming interest from more than 50 participants, including Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University administrators, faculty members, deans, directors, and staff.

Under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee, the Center for Academic Services is one of the core organizations of Walailak University that has been mobilizing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations for years. Walailak University has been ranked in THE Impact Rankings category, placing the university at 600th–800th for three consecutive years.
