Chevron Continually Supports WU in Organizing the Marine Ecology Course: Free Educational Opportunity on Marine Conservation

THA SALA, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 1 November 2023 – Walailak University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Amonsak Sawusdee, Director of the Center for Academic Services, received a 750,000 Baht donation from Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., represented by Mr. Piyanai Klinnoi, Manager of the Center for Air Transport, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Mr. Noradet Sayavejbamrung, Aviation Expert, Miss Phonmai Jirayingphan, Aviation Expert, Mrs. Siriphan Suwannasit, Occupational Health Nurse, and Miss Jiraporn Chotchuang, Senior Officer for Corporate Affairs at the SDG Office, the Center for Academic Services, Walailak University.

The donation is aimed at organizing the 30th Marine Course, which is organized between November 4 and December 10, 2023, with the purpose of providing free educational opportunities to students across Thailand to learn about the interaction of marine organisms with the environment and other issues relating to marine science. More than 50 attendees are expected to participate in the course, which has a pivotal role in raising awareness of marine conservation and sustainable marine resource utilization and promoting academic development among faculty members and related organizations. The course is divided into two parts, including lectures conducted via Zoom Meeting and practical activities that will be held at the Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center (Upper Andaman Sea).

Walailak University and Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. have been consistently establishing partnerships to tackle the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially for SDG 14: Life Below Water, for years as the oceans are under immense threat.
