Asst. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Ditthakit from the School of Engineering and Technology, Mr. Suthira Thongkao from the School of Languages and General Education, and the Center for Academic Services are driving the initiative for participatory coastal watershed management towards the goal of sustainable development, specifically SDG 14.5.5. This is part of the social engagement project titled “The Guidelines for Participatory Coastal Watershed Management in the Pak Phanang Watershed Area.” The project involves collaborative fieldwork with the Khlong Noi Subdistrict community in Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. On March 20, 2024, a meeting was held to discuss planning and implementation with the Participatory Water Management Community Organization of Khlong Noi Subdistrict, including Subdistrict Headman, Village Headman, community leaders from 19 villages, and the Khlong Noi Subdistrict Administrative Organization.

On April 1, 2024, the project team organized a forum to gather information on resource management within the framework of watershed management. This included reviewing lessons learned in resource management, particularly water resources of the Khlong Noi subdistrict. The meeting was attended by local and community leaders. Together, they gathered information on resource management under the watershed management framework, reviewed lessons learned on resource management, particularly water resources of the Khlong Noi community, identified problems, causes, impacts, and provided suggestions for solutions. This was done to develop a community water resource management plan collectively.
