Pimmanee School Students Explore Learning Opportunities at Walailak University Library

On Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., the Center for Library Resources and Educational Media welcomed a group of 22 Grade 5 students from Pimmanee School on a field trip to explore Walailak University’s library services. The visit was led by Mr. Suwat Kerdmanee, Librarian, who provided an overview of the center’s services. He was joined by librarians Ms. Kittiphon Sriphet and Ms. Santhat Sarak, who guided students on how to search for information online and demonstrated the use of RFID technology for borrowing and returning books at the Self Check service point. The program also included a Q&A activity following a movie screening with a soundtrack system in the mini theater room.

During the visit, the students showed great enthusiasm and curiosity to expand their knowledge and experiences related to library use. They were able to observe the differences between school and university libraries, enjoy movie-based learning, practice analytical thinking, and share creative ideas through the Q&A session, where 11 souvenir prizes were awarded. Mr. Ankorn Sukkamrat, the supervising teacher, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that the visit successfully met the school’s objectives of enhancing students’ knowledge, experience, and learning. The field trip provided students with valuable hands-on experience, connecting classroom learning with real-life applications, and inspiring them to pursue further study and research.

This activity forms part of Walailak University’s initiative to provide free public access to libraries, including books and publications, in support of the SDGs, particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
