On February 10, 2024, the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion conducted a field survey on Nora troupes in Thasala, Sichon, and Khanom Districts, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, as part of a project studying the role and preservation of Nora in the region. This visit focused on collecting data on Nora Phen Sri Yodrabam, including her ritual performances and paid tribute shows, highlighting the multifaceted roles of Nora in the community, such as ritual beliefs, entertainment, economic stimulation, and fostering family and community unity.

The project was divided into three main parts:

  1. Studying the role and existence of Nora, led by Asst. Prof. Anuchsara Ruangmak, School of Liberal Arts.
  2. Creating a cultural map of Nora, conducted by Ms. Parinya Siharath, Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion.
  3. Producing a documentary on Nora to capture and preserve its cultural significance.

This forms part of Walailak University’s initiative to contribute to recording and preserving local, regional, and national intangible cultural heritage, in support of the SDGs, particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
