WU Collaborates with Local Authorities to Develop Residential Plots for Community

On 17 February 2024, Walailak University collaborated with local agencies to address housing and land issues for the community. The university coordinated with the Office of Agricultural Land Reform, Inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and relevant officials, including Tha Sala District officers, Nakhon Si Thammarat provincial officers, Land Department staff, provincial land reform officers, and the provincial public prosecutor’s office, to discuss strategies, prepare plots, and allocate land to residents within the Walailak Demonstration Community Development area (each plot measuring 8,000 square meters).

In 2024, 15 individuals were allocated land. The university conducted on-site preparations, clearing and leveling each plot for residential construction, and provided financial support of 200,000 baht per household for building materials and supplies.

This activity forms part of Walailak University’s initiative to address planning issues and development, including ensuring that local residents are able to access affordable housing in collaboration with local authorities, in support of the SDGs, particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
