Assoc. Prof. Dr. Udomsak Saengow Appointed as Advisor to the Ad-hoc Committee on Alcoholic Beverage Control Act Consideration

On 9 April 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Udomsak Saengow from the School of Medicine, Walailak University, was officially appointed as a member of the Advisors to the Ad-hoc Committee on Alcoholic Beverage Control Act Consideration. His appointment reinforces Walailak University’s commitment to evidence-based policymaking and public health advocacy, promoting direct involvement in national government and regional nongovernment organizations’ SDG policy development.

The Advisors to the Ad-hoc Committee were established to provide consultation, strategic guidance, and academic insights in support of drafting the new Alcoholic Beverage Control Act. Their responsibilities include advising the Ad-hoc Committee, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Office of Alcohol Control Committee to ensure that the revised Act is both effective and inclusive, addressing emerging challenges in alcohol regulation and public health.

Throughout his career, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saengow has been deeply engaged in advancing public health through research and academic contributions. His expertise lies in epidemiology, particularly in the areas of alcohol consumption, health promotion interventions, and healthcare program evaluation. He has shared his research at numerous international conferences and has been frequently invited as a guest speaker to discuss key issues and innovations in public health policy and practice.
