On 30 September 2025, Walailak University (WU) developed a Google Form-based assessment to evaluate students’ understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals on the ability to learn and retain key concepts of sustainability as part of the indicators for the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The assessment consists of 30 questions, covering all 17 SDGs, with varying levels of difficulty. It is administered to all WU students to measure their foundational knowledge and awareness of global sustainability issues.
In addition to the form, WU integrates its SDG Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the Thai MOOC platform as a complementary evaluation tool. This dual approach—combining digital learning with direct assessment—allows the university to gain a more comprehensive picture of students’ SDG literacy and engagement.
Building on its 2023 initiative, WU will use data from both platforms to develop new and more sophisticated evaluation tools that align with the university’s sustainability education strategy. These efforts aim to foster deeper understanding of sustainable development, inspire student participation in sustainability projects, and strengthen the university’s contribution to the SDGs, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
