Earlier this May, faculty members from the School of Education, the School of Allied Health Sciences, the School of Liberal Arts, and the team from The Center for Academic Services at Walailak University held a collaborative meeting with the Chief Executive of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Thaiburi Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Chief Administrator of the Thaiburi Subdistrict Administrative Organization, teachers from Satit Walailak Pattana Community Early Childhood Development Center, and Wat Khok Lek Early Childhood Development Center. The meeting aimed to prepare for the integrated development of early childhood skills within the community, with a focus on promoting and addressing all aspects of child development comprehensively.
The discussion focused on identifying activity plans that effectively respond to the needs and developmental challenges of early childhood in the area. The initiative integrates cooperation among local administrative organizations, early childhood teachers, and university lecturers from various disciplines to enhance children’s development in physical, emotional, social, and learning dimensions.
In the educational dimension, the School of Education emphasized supporting cognitive development in early childhood through age-appropriate learning activities and processes that strengthen thinking skills, learning abilities, as well as emotional and social development. Meanwhile, the School of Liberal Arts will contribute by enhancing English language skills for early childhood teachers through daily learning activities, enabling teachers to naturally and continuously integrate English into children’s learning experiences.
In terms of health promotion, the School of Allied Health Sciences focuses on supporting children’s motor development through play-based activities, particularly the development of fine and gross motor skills, as well as body coordination appropriate to each developmental stage.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for all parties to exchange ideas on collaborative activities among Walailak University, Thaiburi Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and early childhood development centers. By integrating multidisciplinary knowledge, the initiative aims to promote holistic early childhood development, laying an important foundation for improving quality of life and fostering sustainable community development in the future.
This activity was conducted under the “Integrated Multidisciplinary Programs for Sustainable Educational Outreach to Communities Surrounding the University” and the “the Walailak Health Model Program: Revitalizing Quality of Life and Promoting Sustainable Well-being in Communities Surrounding the University.” These initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals. The programs emphasize collaboration among communities, local organizations, and educational institutions to continuously and sustainably improve people’s quality of life, while also supporting the “WU HAPPY TREE” framework in the areas of health and education.
