The School of Management and the School of Accounting and Finance, Walailak University, in collaboration with the Center for Academic Services, organized a hands-on workshop to develop vegetable carving, creative food plating, and English vocabulary skills related to food ingredients for students from Chumchon Mai School. The activity was conducted under “The Integrated Multidisciplinary Programs for Sustainable Educational Outreach to Communities Surrounding the University,” aiming to strengthen educational opportunities for communities surrounding the university. The workshop took place on 24 June 2026.
The activity was led by Mr. Pavit Tansakul, together with students from the Professional Culinary Arts Program, School of Management. They demonstrated the preparation of Thai chili paste and vegetable carving techniques, which were incorporated into creative food presentation. A total of 30 students participated in the workshop. In addition to observing live demonstrations, participants practiced vegetable carving themselves, gaining hands-on experience that enhanced their creativity, practical skills, and readiness for future culinary competitions.
The program also featured Asst. Prof. Dr. Suchita Manajit, Dr. Konrawan Rattanaburi from the School of Accounting and Finance, and internship students from Indonesia. Together, they conducted interactive English language activities focusing on vocabulary related to food ingredients. Students were encouraged to communicate directly with the international interns, providing valuable opportunities to build confidence and improve their English communication skills in authentic situations.
This activity exemplifies Walailak University’s interdisciplinary approach to enhancing educational quality in schools and communities surrounding the university. By integrating vocational training with English language development, the program promotes holistic student development while strengthening essential life and career skills. Furthermore, the project supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, in line with the university’s WU HAPPY TREE initiative on education.
