THA SALA, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 21 August 2026 — Walailak University (WU), led by Mr. Songpan Janthong, a lecturer and researcher from the School of Languages and General Education, together with staff from the Center for Academic Services, organized a free educational outreach program for the Leya Local Community Enterprise. The program focused on packaging design and promotional media for processed seafood products and was part of a project to promote sustainable livelihoods and community development. The activity was held at Walailak University.
The program aimed to build on local knowledge and enhance the value and market potential of processed seafood products through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on learning. The activities included:
- Packaging Design Training: Participants developed skills in creating a distinctive product identity, selecting appropriate packaging materials, and designing modern and visually appealing packaging that helps preserve food quality and enhance product competitiveness.
- Live Streaming Workshop: Participants gained practical experience in digital marketing and online communication, with opportunities to practice presenting their products and engaging with consumers through digital platforms.
The program also contributed to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in three key areas:
SDG 2: Zero Hunger — The program supports food security by promoting packaging approaches that can help extend the shelf life of processed seafood products while maintaining food hygiene and quality. It also contributes to creating more stable income opportunities for local producers and community entrepreneurs.
SDG 4: Quality Education — The initiative promotes lifelong learning by providing community members with practical knowledge and modern skills in product design and digital marketing that can be applied to their businesses and livelihoods.
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — The program demonstrates Walailak University’s commitment to strengthening collaboration among the university, local communities, and partner organizations to enhance the grassroots economy and promote sustainable community development.
