Walailak University is the 1 st rank university in Thailand which has a tremendous area. It located in southern of Thailand. Each year Walailak university facing the flooding problem. Furthermore, there are the green wu policy to solve this problem which is the water management plan to prevent the flooding problem and can keep the amount of water in detention pond and canals for the domestic usage. It is correspond with SDGs 6 (Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all) Moreover, Walailak university corporate with Water management center to act correspond with Wu green policy and it also correspond with SDGs 17 Partnerships for the Goals (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.)
There are two detention ponds which are Walailak park and in the back of the university. These two lakes can water conservation water is approximately 1,338,832 m2 and can keep amount of water is 9,690,746 m3. (Walailak University, Thailand)
It is sufficient for domestic water use in our university all year round. Therefore, the ratio of the amount water conserved in university to total volume of rainfall in the area is approximately 30%
Moreover, there are the water works house for pipe water production and service for surrounding areas
This project has a good impact which are
- Maintain natural resources
- Develop repetitive flooded areas into regulating reservoir
- Improve drainage to prevent flooding
- Install the water-level alert equipment
