WU Provides Free Access to Educational Resources

Walailak University is an institution that has available and modern educational resources, including personnel and facilities for open education and international standards so that these educational resources can promote and extend opportunities for civilians to access higher education and to create a learning society. Walailak University provides free access to educational resources for people who are not studying at the university as follows:

  • Training courses: the university department provides various courses to accommodate different needs and open up opportunities for interested people of all genders, ages, and professions to receive free education according to their interests. At the end of the training, they will receive a certificate to confirm their knowledge acquisition. Such training courses are activities to practice skills in science and technology through learning and practical practice at the station of learning activities at the laboratory by the Center for Scientific and Technological Equipment and Walailak Botanic Park.
  • Online learning courses: Walailak University has academic cooperation with The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) for managing distance education in the form of free online courses for open education and for promoting lifelong learning, partnered with Thailand Cyber ​​University (TCU) Project to develop cooperation on promoting and supporting teaching and learning by using electronic media through Inter University Network (UniNet) for the production of free online lessons or course set for mutual benefit. Moreover, WU and MHESI provide free online classes for open education (WUMOOC) to all people and professions, such as WU028: Work Performance Enhancement with AI, Information Technology in Digital Era, Online Tools for 21st Century Learning, Developmental Psychology in Elderly through UniNet. This cooperation aims to expand learning opportunities for people to access higher education and promote lifelong learning. Also, WU provides academic and professional training for teachers, lecturers, students, citizens, government agencies, and private sectors. There is also interdisciplinary informal education for interested people, which can be studied independently to increase knowledge and improve the quality of life and work. In addition, the center for academic service produces the “Walailak to Society” program and “Good Health Good Life at Walailak” radio channel to disseminate health knowledge.
  • Free access to library services: the Center for Library Resources and Educational Media (CLM) has provided free access to library services for outsiders from Walailak University to support lifelong learning for space use, research, the use of information resources within the library, and the use of a computer or other devices. For the underprivileged or the disabled, CLM supports the necessities that facilitate access to the library, such as an aisle for wheelchairs. Also, CLM promotes free access to information for them with the Braille book service. In addition, there is a website to provide information resources and support education for students, teachers, and the public, allowing everyone to access online services anywhere and anytime, which can be accessed at the website https://library.wu.ac.th. The public sector is allowed to be able to search for information and access information. At the same time, CLM also opens up an opportunity for students and the public to search and link to various information sources to support and promote lifelong learning, such as searching Union Catalog to borrow between libraries.
  • Computer technology services: The Center for Digital Technology (CDT) provides free access to university equipment for schools in the surrounding community with problems of teaching and learning in computers and technology. Therefore, CDT provides free computer services with technical consulting personnel for teaching computer courses to provide opportunities for students to receive various modern learning services.
