The Road to Low-Carbon Campus of Walailak University

The Road to Low-Carbon Campus of Walailak University

Walailak University’s policy aims to reduce carbon use and promotes energy saving and conservation by focusing on the use of clean, renewable, and newly created energy. The plan includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, environmental management, and efficient energy management to become a Smart & Green University by using clean energy processes to reduce fossil energy use. Walailak University’s strategies to become a green university include:

  1. Walailak University has adopted electric shuttle buses as an eco-friendly transportation service for students and staff. The service reduces the use of personal vehicles, so it reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
  2. Buildings at Walailak University have used 2,000-kWp solar panels on their rooftops to allow for the integration of more clean energy resources into their operations.

Moreover, Walailak University has supported carbon dioxide absorption by planting trees in all areas of the university, releasing oxygen for humans and animals, and reducing the use of air conditioning in buildings.
