Dr. Amporn Marddent found the Center of Excellence on Women and Social Security (CEWSS), Walailak University in 2018. She has contributed to work on women’s rights and human security with local and international organizations for more than a decade. With potential coalition partner with GOs, NGOs and CSOs, Dr. Amporn and her team at CEWSS discover the ways to advance social justice as well as encourage women, youth and religious influencers to work on the elimination of gender-based violence in the ongoing unrest in southernmost provinces of Thailand, where she noticed the marginalization of women. Her academic services help Thai government, regional intergovernmental organization and different local communities focus on peacebuilding operation. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Thailand recently appointed her along with the other two representatives to be the ASEAN Women for Peace Registry to provide guidelines to GO and NGO actors on the responsibilities and activities for carrying out a particular national and regional strategic plan on the meaningful participation of women in peace and security.
