Walailak university supports every educational model, including ones outside the basic system. Due to a fair amount of unemployment rate in local residents, vocational training events were held at Walailak university in 2021. The training courses provided short-term education programmes for communities to increase the employment rate and number of skilled workers. The courses were designed to focus on field-practice with flexibility on time and content of the course. The Botanic Park is open to the general public without any charge from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The park is located in the conservation area of the university with an area of approximately 1,350 rai, providing academic services and a source of free learning for students and operating as a tourist attraction in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The Center of Excellence for Ecoinformatics, Walailak University, in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM-ED) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), co-hosted an international training program on Smart Agriculture for Climate Change under the topic “Climate Smart Agriculture: Smart Farming Practices Online Workshop.” between 6-24 September 2021 (2564 B.E.).
