Water-efficient appliances usage

Walailak University has a policy to promote reduced water usage and efficient water management within the university for maximum benefit. The university has applied building standards aimed at minimizing water use.

This promotion could be implemented for 1,824 units which includes all toilet bowls in the university.

• Faucets

WU have installed self-closing faucets instead of swivel faucets, which can control and limit water usage effectively.

• Urinal flush valves

These have been replaced with water-saving versions (6 liters), which have reduced water consumption by approximately 1-2 liters.

• Toilet bowls valves
Traditional squat and sitting toilets, which contribute to water wastage, have been replaced with more efficient water-saving appliances. In 2024, Walailak University upgraded to dual-flush toilets, which conserve more water compared to single-flush models that use 6 liters per flush. Dual-flush toilets feature two buttons: a smaller button for liquid waste, using 3 liters per flush, and a larger button for solid waste, using 6 liters per flush.

A dual-flush toilet conserves water by offering two flush options: a smaller button for urine, using 3 liters of water per flush, and a larger button for feces, using 6 liters per flush. .
