Walailak University Assesses the Volume and Composition of Waste in the Community to Contribute to the UI GreenMetric 2024

On January 17, 2024, Walailak University, through the Environmental Health Program under the School of Public Health, conducted a field survey in Ban Laem community, Tha Sala Subdistrict, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The team, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Panadda Phiboon, Dr. Warangkana Srimok, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriuma Jawjit, and third-year students from the Environmental Health Program, assessed the volume and composition of waste in the area.
This activity is part of the “Promotion and Development of Ban Laem Homestay Community in Waste Separation for Recycling” project, integrated with the Solid Waste and Sewage Management course, contributing to the UI GreenMetric 2024 initiative. The project’s objectives are to support the development of greenhouse gas reduction activities in Ban Laem community, aiming for certification under the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS). It also prepares the community to develop greenhouse gas reduction projects to a level where carbon credits can be traded. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action, which focuses on combating climate change.
