LESS for a Greener Future: Sustainable Carbon Management in the Business Sector Workshop by CAS for the Business Operators in Tha Sala District

The target group consisted of 25 people, including:
1. Students: 10 people
2. Staff: 15 people
Total hours of the activity: 8 hours

The Center for Academic Services at Walailak University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Laksanara Khwanchum, Deputy Director of the Center and Project Leader, in collaboration with Mr. Songpan Janthong, the lecturer from the School of Languages and General Education, organized a workshop titled “LESS for a Greener Future: Sustainable Carbon Management in the Business Sector” on December 21, 2024. The event took place at Khao Luang Chamber, Walailak University, as part of the project “Capacity Development for Low-Carbon Community-Based Tourism in the Tha Sala District Community Tourism Network, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.”

The workshop targeted tourism-related business operators in Tha Sala District, including hotels, accommodations, resorts, homestays, shops, and restaurants interested in participating in the LESS (Low Emission Support Scheme). The activity is linked to waste, energy, and the development of environmentally friendly packaging and products. The training was attended by representatives from 9 establishments and over 20 participants. This activity equips business operators with knowledge to apply for LESS certification from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), enabling them to receive an official certificate recognizing their commitment to resource efficiency and sustainability. Prior to the training, the project team conducted on-site surveys and questionnaires to assess environmental management knowledge, awareness, and corporate social and environmental responsibility among business operators, receiving significant interest and engagement.
Furthermore, the project aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 13 and SDG 17), as well as the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in the areas of energy, climate change, education, and research.
