Vocational Events at WU: Free Educational Opportunities for All

Walailak University embraces a wide range of educational approaches, including those that extend beyond the conventional framework. In response to a noticeable level of unemployment among local residents, Walailak University organized vocational training both ad-hoc and program event in 2022. These training programs offered short-term educational opportunities to local communities with the goal of boosting employment rates and enhancing the number of skilled workers. These courses were thoughtfully designed to emphasize hands-on, practical experience and offered flexibility in terms of timing and course content. 

The four key Vocational training programs were introduced in 2022:

1. Professional Business and Entrepreneurship Training Program:

The course was structured by the Science and Technology Park to enhance both business operations and product quality through the application of science, research, and innovation by the expertise of professionals, scholars, and entrepreneurs:

  • Creating a Career with the Ligor Chicken Raising Business: it is the seminars and training to promote employment and well-being in the community. The objectives include transferring expertise in professional chicken farming, expanding knowledge about Ligor Chicken breeding, and establishing a Ligor Chicken network for commercial use. There are target groups consisting of both existing and new Ligor Chicken farmers, as well as entrepreneurs in retail and food businesses.

2. Knowledge and Technology Transfer Training Activity:

There are two courses and one activity that organize by the Walailak Culinary Training Center for public people such as Crepes suzette & Strawberry Crumble, E’ Clair & Cream Puff, and Technology transfer and knowledge dissemination on the production of “Pla Nil Yong” and “Savory Leaf Wraps” products.

3. Knowledge Dissemination and Skill Development Training Activities:

The activities are provided by the Center for Academic Services and partner sections for the university’s surrounding communities.

– Animal Nutrition

– Preventing important swine diseases

The Manufacturing System Planning and Management of Swine under High-quality Process and Safety Standards for a Stable Job (Educational Programed Events)

4. Professional Skill Enhancement Activities:

The activities to promote the professional skills of pharmacists are organized by the Center for Academic Services in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy. These activities are aimed at pharmacists from various sectors, including community pharmacies, educational institution pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, Pharmaceutical and Health consumer Protection, and lecturers from across the country. The objectives are to enhance and update pharmacists’ knowledge in modern pharmacy practices, enabling them to effectively apply expertise in their work. This aligns with the healthcare service development plan to maximize benefits for patients. Moreover, it promotes continuous educational activities for pharmacists to advance the pharmacy profession.

The Vocational ad-hoc event were introduced in 2022:

1. Young Smart Farmer:

Walailak University places importance on enhancing population in surrounding WU Community to provide knowledge, abilities, and skills for employment, address unemployment issues, and promote economic empowerment in the community. Consequently, the vocational training event is hosted at Walailak University; Walailak University collaborates with the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, to organize the ‘Young Smart Farmer’ to transfer agricultural system management knowledge to the new era of farmers.

In this vocational event, Experts from various departments within Walailak University provided training in plant field management, plant diseases, livestock management and modern marketing. During the event, more than 100 agricultural participants attended sessions on a variety of topics including:

  1. Plant disease management for sustainable income generation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warin Intana
  2. New era marketing for modern farmers by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp
  3. Livestock management for career development by Dr. Jindarha Prampramote
  4. Management of fruit tree plots for building careers by agricultural development experts at the Center for Smart Farm

Moreover, they also visited the orchards at the Center for Smart Farm.
