Cross-Sectoral Dialogue about SDGs at WU in 2022

2022 was the year that WU initiated and participated in cross-sectoral dialogue events both on and beyond campus. The dialogue covered various matters including, science, social science, engineering, culture, and others. In addition, Walailak University has partnered with educational institutions, government organizations, NGOs, and the private sector to collaboratively conduct research projects for tackling SDGs.

Walailak Collaborates with the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King to Organize the STT

Walailak University collaborated with the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King, an NGO working to promote science activities in Thailand, to organize the 48th International Congress on Science, Technology and Technology-based Innovation The congress’s theme Science and Technology for Advancing Towards SDGs gave scientists from all around the world a special opportunity to realize the importance of science and technology in addressing global challenges and finding long-term solutions that are advantageous to all. Besides the scientists, there were government organizations and members of NGOs around the world participating in the conference. The congress included 5 sessions and 9 symposiums chaired by eminent scientists. The technical program is rich and varied with 4 keynote speakers, 4 plenary speakers, and 68 invited speakers worldwide.

In addition, there was a keynote lecture by 2013 Nobel Laureate in Physiology/Medicine Professor Randy W. Schekman on the topic of Traffic of Cas9-gRNA Between Cultured Human Cells Mediated by Cell-Cell Contact, followed by a lecture by world-renowned scientist Professor Emeritus Roland Von Bothmer on the topic of Science and Biodiversity – Use and Conservation of Genetic Resources for the Future, and the plenary lecture from the 2022 Outstanding Scientist of Thailand Professor Dr. Vip Viprakasit on the topic of Bringing Genomic Medicine to the Real-world Setting.

Walailak University participated in the CPCE Health Conference

The CPCE Health Conference 2022 was the seventh annual international conference organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s College of Professional and Continuing Education (PolyU CPCE) since 2016. The theme of this year’s Conference was “Long-term Care: Financing and Service Delivery in Asia-Pacific”. Aging population is a worldwide issue and an increase in the number of older people is associated with an increasing need for long-term care. Financing long-term care and the associated service delivery are critical issues to the community and the health professionals. Walailak University by the Center for International Affairs is one of a co-organizer of this conference. There were organizations, private sectors and NGOs participating in the conference, including Hong Kong Telemedicine Association Pfizer Inc., Town Health International Medical Group Ltd Hong Kong Public Administration Association (HKPAA) and so on.

The Making of Common in Southeast Asia Series

These seminars attempted to address diverse methods of perceiving “Southeast Asia. Though Southeast Asia is the physical southeastern subregion of Asia, consisting of the regions south of China and south-east of the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia is in question due to shared accumulations of history, politics, and social and economic justice. In this seminar, they looked at how to think about Southeast Asia as a whole, whether or not there are borders, nationalities, shared history, and so on. It contributed to exploring methods, and best practices, and discussing Asian peaceful cooperation. It employed its strange method to promote intellectual effort and a new political desire to understand “Southeast Asia” in a dialogue of regional and global (south) frameworks. These conferences were freely open for all without any costs. There were universities, avitivists, writers and NGOs particiating the conferences, includng Aruna GlobaAruna Global South, ization with OLA (Observatorio de les Americas) Ton Duc Thang University, Mr. Zhuang Wubin, writer and so on.
