        Walailak University, located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, spans an impressive 15,350,400 square meters, making it the largest campus of any university in Thailand. Also, it has been an integral part of the academic landscape since 1992. Renowned as one of the nations most extensive educational facilities, it holds a special place in the region.

           The campus of Walailak University offers a dynamic environment, blending academic facilities with natural beauty. It features modern infrastructure, green spaces, and state-of-the-art amenities, fostering a conducive atmosphere for learning and personal development.

            The history of Walailak University stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the local community. The initial concept of establishing a university in Nakhon Si Thammarat was conceived in 1967, though it took until 1979 for local Members of Parliament to formally propose the necessary legislation. The movement gained significant traction in 1984 when a coalition of prominent figures from the region formed the “Campaign for a University in Nakhon Si Thammarat.” This culminated in the Cabinet’s approval in April 1990 to officially establish the institution. In February 1992, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej graciously bestowed the name “Walailak University” in honor of his youngest daughter, Princess Chulabhorn Walailak. The final legislative approval was granted on March 29, 1992, a date which now marks the university’s Foundation

           On May 23, 1998, approximately 70 high school graduates, mostly from Nakhon Si Thammarat and neighboring provinces, embarked on their educational journey as the first batch of Walailak University students. Five days later, on May 28, 1998, the inaugural classes commenced.

             Walailak University is meticulously designed as a comprehensive institution offering a diverse range of academic disciplines, catering to the needs of the Thai populace. Graduates of Walailak University are expected to possess not only academic knowledge but also practical intelligence, an aptitude for adversity, a liberal arts perspective, and technological competence, all underpinned by high moral standards. The universitys mission is to be The Education Park of ASEAN,a place where global citizens can discover a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and culture.

       Situated against the picturesque backdrop of mountain scenery in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand, Walailak University is a residential campus with stateoftheart educational facilities, services, and student and staff accommodation. It is located approximately 780 kilometers south of Bangkok, a mere 2 ½hour drive from the popular beach resorts of Samui Island, Surat Thani, and Krabi, as well as the bustling commercial center and the international airport of Hat Yai. Nakhon Si Thammarat enjoys excellent transportation connectivity, with daily air, train, and bus services to and from Bangkok, Hat Yai, Phuket, and Malaysia. With a sprawling total area of 15,350,400 square meters, it holds the distinction of being the largest university campus in Thailand. In addition to the main campus in Tha Sala, Walailak University also operates a coordinating office in Bangkok and a service center in neighboring Surat Thani Province.
