Pharmacy, WU organized conference on Pharmaceutical sciences “Practicing after the pandemic; the new roles of Thai Pharmacist practitioners”

The conference on Pharmaceutical sciences in the theme “Practicing after the pandemic; the new roles of Thai Pharmacist practitioners” on 17 – 18 July 2021 was successfully organized by the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University with Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prince of Songkhla University, and the Southern Pharmacist Club as an online conference on Zoom application.

The participants were subsidized by the Center for Academic Service, Walailak University. There were pharmacists who accepted the invitation and share their knowledge and experiences related to the topic.

Mrs.Sujita Kulthawaiporn the head of the Southern Pharmacist Club reported and addressed this conference to the Assoc.Prof.Dr.Jiraporn Limpananon, President of the Pharmacy Council, Thailand, and all participants. After the open speech of the President of the Pharmacy Council, Thailand, we announced the best southern Pharmacists awards, years 2020 and 2021.

The seminar in Telepharmacy with the role of community pharmacist and adaptation in the new era presented by Assoc.Prof.Dr.Jiraporn Limpananon, President of the Pharmacy Council, Thailand, Piraya Thamrongtherakul (MD.), Dr.Suchart Jongprasert, and Wirun Vetsiri was the first session of the conference. The special lecture on Cannabis by Dr.Anantachai Assawamekin, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mahidol University was the afternoon session of the first day. And then the conference was started with the hot issue on covid-19 vaccination by Prof.Sasisopin Kiatburanakul, Mahidol University, and followed by the topic in crisis management of drug system during a covid-19 pandemic by Witchunee Pittakul, Samuthsakorn Hospital. Before closing, we had a special lecture on the role of community pharmacists and psychiatric patients by Dr.Rewadee Jenruamjit, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiangmai University and Namfon Piyatrakul, Suan-prung Hospital, Chiangmai, Thailand.

Moreover, there were fascinating seminars that attendees gained data throughout the Lunch symposium, including:

  1. 1. “Pharmacists are key to quality use of medicines for biosimilars” topic presented by Dr. Anunchai Assawamakin and supported by UPJOHN (THAILAND) LIMITED; Viatris Thailand.
  2. 2. “Trust in CPRV: From pre-exposure to post-exposure prophylaxis” topic presented by Assoc.Prof.Wanatpreeya Phongsamart and supported by BIOVALYS COMPANY LIMITED.

Before the end of this seminar, Mrs.Sujita Kulthawaiporn, the pinnacle of the Southern Pharmacist Club, reported a closing ceremony. The School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, can use the expertise obtained to enhance and expand the seminar to lets in the members to apply the expertise received as a guideline for Pharmacist operations and professional development.
