      1. Ensure equal access to education, employment, and opportunities for personal and professional growth for women and transgender individuals.
      2. Promote a campus culture of respect, understanding, and acceptance by providing training and awareness programs that challenge gender stereotypes and bias.
      3. Protect individuals from harassment, bullying, or any form of discrimination based on gender identity, expression, or sexual orientation.
      4. Implement and enforce policies that recognize the unique needs and rights of women and transgender individuals, ensuring they are free from any form of prejudice or exclusion.
      5. Collaborate with NGOs, government organizations, private sectors, and communities to support initiatives that promote gender equality and the rights of transgender individuals, both on and off campus.

Equal Access to Education for All Genders

In addition to fostering an inclusive admissions policy, Walailak University actively supports and promotes the participation of female and transgender students, particularly in fields and disciplines where they are traditionally underrepresented. The university offers targeted initiatives such as mentorship programs, scholarships, and career development workshops to encourage their involvement in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), leadership roles, and other areas where gender disparities exist. By creating a supportive environment that addresses specific barriers and challenges, Walailak University helps female and transgender students gain confidence, thrive academically, and advance in their chosen careers. This commitment to gender equity extends beyond the classroom, ensuring that all students have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in both academic and professional spheres.

Support Services for Female and Transgender Students
Walailak University is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that supports the academic and personal development of female and transgender students. To achieve this, the university has established several organizations and programs designed to ensure their success and well-being throughout their time on campus. The WU Smile and Smart Center plays a pivotal role by offering comprehensive consultancy services on a range of issues, including mental health support, academic guidance, and addressing discrimination. The center is dedicated to advocating for students who face unfair treatment, working proactively to promote equality and empower individuals to thrive in a supportive university community. Additionally, the university regularly conducts workshops and awareness campaigns to foster respect and understanding, ensuring that all students feel safe, valued, and included.

Freedom in Dressing

Since 2017, Walailak University has the Walailak University Announcement on Gender-neutral Dress Code to uphold the right of students to dress according to their chosen gender, including during significant events such as the graduation ceremony. This policy reflects WU’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can express their identity freely. By recognizing the importance of self-expression, the university ensures that students are not only free to dress in alignment with their gender identity but also remain protected and respected in doing so. This progressive stance highlights WU’s dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the campus community, empowering students to embrace their individuality without fear of discrimination.

Protection from Discrimination and Reporting Mechanisms

Walailak University also places a strong emphasis on protecting individuals who report incidents of discrimination. The university encourages female students and staff to report any concerns related to gender discrimination to faculty advisors, supervisors, or the Student Council. WU guarantees that all reports are handled with sensitivity, ensuring that individuals are protected from retaliation and further discrimination. By establishing clear reporting channels and protective measures, the university upholds a safe and supportive environment for all. Walailak University has procedures for appealing and reporting discrimination in place for those reporting discrimination.
