Walailak University promotes Lifelong Learning through Vocational Training and Executive Education for the general public, including individuals who are not enrolled at the university. These opportunities enable participants from diverse professional backgrounds to apply the knowledge and skills gained to their work, careers, and the development of products and services in real-world contexts. Throughout 2025, the university hosted both Programmed Events and Ad-hoc Events to support continuous learning and skills development.

Programmed Events

As part of its Programmed Events, Walailak University regularly hosts Vocational Training and Executive Education activities across various professional fields. These include professional pharmacy training, such as a program on the development of instructors at professional pharmacy practice sites. The program was open to pharmacists as well as executives and administrators from relevant organizations, providing opportunities to enhance professional knowledge and skills in pharmacy practice and professional management.

The university also provides Vocational Training to develop food-processing and career-related skills, including training in coastal fishery product processing. The training provides knowledge and practical skills that can be directly applied to vocational development and the development of community products. Participants engaged in lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training covering the selection and preparation of raw materials, seasoning techniques, and systematic production processes for value-added food products, including “shrimp dumplings” and “fish hoi jo.” Academics and students from the Professional Culinary Arts program provided close guidance, enabling participants to apply the knowledge gained to develop community food products and create further vocational opportunities.

In addition, the university hosted the Teacher Capacity-Building with Educational Innovation Training Program, offered in Cohorts 1 and 2. The training focused on professional development and provided opportunities for educators from outside the university to participate in Lifelong Learning activities. Participants also included education executives, such as school directors, demonstrating that the activities supported both Vocational Training and Executive Education through the development of professional and leadership capabilities.

Academic Services Programme Events

For Ad-hoc Events, Walailak University hosts training activities and workshops that respond to emerging needs for professional skills and practical application. One example is the Design Thinking for Research and Development activity, which included lectures on “Innovation Ecosystem Design” and “Design Thinking: From Business to Entrepreneurship,” as well as workshops on “Empathize,” focusing on understanding users, and “Define,” focusing on identifying and defining user problems.

The activity supported the development of skills in design thinking, innovation, research and development, and entrepreneurship, which participants can apply in their professional work and career development. As an Ad-hoc Event, it also demonstrates the university’s provision of flexible learning opportunities that respond to emerging professional and vocational needs.

Through these initiatives, Walailak University demonstrates the provision of Vocational Training and Executive Education through both Programmed Events and Ad-hoc Events that are open to the general public and professionals from outside the university. The activities cover professional skills development, vocational skills enhancement, food-product development, educational professional development, leadership and management, innovation, and entrepreneurship, thereby providing diverse opportunities for Lifelong Learning and continuous skills development throughout life.
