    Times Higher Education (THE), a renowned global university ranking organization from the United Kingdom, has released the results of the 2024 THE Impact Rankings, which assess universities’ contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, 2,152 higher education institutions from 125 countries participated in the rankings. In Thailand, a total of 77 institutions were ranked.

     Walailak University was ranked in the 101-200 range globally and placed joint 5th in Thailand. The university excelled in six SDGs, placing in the Top 100 globally for the following goals:

  • SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: Ranked 91st
    in the world and 5thin Thailand
  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: Ranked 85thth in the world and 4th in Thailand
  • SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: Ranked 55th in the world and 1st in Thailand
  • SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: Ranked 63rd in the world and 2nd in Thailand
  • SDG 14 – Life Below Water: Ranked 31st in the world and 2ndnd in Thailand
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Ranked 81stin the world and 4th in Thailand

     Walailak University particularly excelled out in SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), where it ranked 55th globally and 1st in Thailand, as well as in SDG 14 (Life Below Water), where it ranked 31st globally and 2nd in Thailand. Furthermore, this marks the first time the university has broken into the Top 100 globally for SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), ranking 85th and 81st, respectively.

    The 2024 rankings confirm that Walailak University is among the world’s leading institutions in addressing sustainable development. These achievements reflect its growing international recognition, especially in the area of academic services, embodying its vision of being “A Regional University with a Global Standard.”
