The number of sustainability-related initiatives conducted by the university, faculty, and students at Walailak University is 16 startups.
Walailak University places great importance on developing startups focused on solving environmental and social issues. The Science and Technology Park serves as a key agency to promote and enhance the nation’s knowledge in science, technology, and innovation. It provides facilities and support for the private sectors engaged in research and development by connecting researchers and experts from both the public and private sectors with entrepreneurs in need. The park offers comprehensive resources for research and technology development, along with business consulting services, innovative design, and intellectual property management.
Furthermore, it acts as a bridge between industry, academia, government, and local communities, promoting the development of a skilled workforce in science, technology, and innovation across the country. The establishment of a business incubation center supports students, graduates, faculty, staff, and external individuals in creating new entrepreneurs and advancing product development through science and technology. Services for entrepreneurs include support from the idea stage (Idea State) to product prototyping (R&D), market validation (Market Validation), and ultimately bringing products to market. Additionally, the center provides access to specialized experts, a network of local business professionals, connections to government funding sources, and office space for new entrepreneurs, ensuring sustainable business growth.

Description:
This organic fertilizer, enriched with Trichoderma NST-009 and soil conditioners, is produced under the Agricultural Microorganism Production and Service Enterprise Project at the Agricultural Microbiology Center, Walailak University. It offers high-quality agricultural bioproducts to communities and the public. Description:
Probiotic and Microbial Products for Shrimp Aquaculture. This innovative product was developed to address the pressing issue of antibiotic overuse in shrimp farming. While antibiotics are effective in combating diseases, can also eliminate beneficial bacteria and contribute to the development of antibiotic resistance. Additionaly, excessive antibiotic use can accumulate in shrimp, posing a risk to human health. To tackle this problem, we have developed a range of probiotic and microbial products for both oral and water treatment. These beneficial microorganisms help control the growth of harmful bacteria in shrimp ponds, promoting healthier shrimp and reducing the need for antibiotics.

Description:
Trial production in the pilot plant: The Science and Technology Park facilitates private sector access to university experts for consultation or joint research and innovation development. Additionally, it offers scientific equipment services, including microwave energy utilization. The park has conducted studies on the physics and technology of low-cost microwaves, becoming the first group in Thailand to do so. It also provides laboratory equipment for the production of herbal medicines. Link

Services for new entrepreneurs include office space, meeting rooms, co-working spaces, exhibition areas, and the option to reserve a food maker space. Additionally, rooms are equipped with audiovisual equipment such as computers, microphones, sound systems, and projection screens. The largest meeting room can accommodate up to 88 people. Link

The Science and Technology Park provides registration and protection of all types of intellectual property to entrepreneurs in the area. Entrepreneurs can submit applications for protection, search patent databases, map patents, and request advice on intellectual property from the university’s intellectual property expert, Mr. Patsakorn Chanthaweerot. Consulting services on intellectual property management are offered free of charge. Link

Science and Technology Park provides services to entrepreneurs who have already started their business, aiming to accelerate growth by focusing on production development (product development, production site standards, product standards), distribution ( business plan, marketing strategy , creating awareness, increasing distribution channels, creating cooperation with domestic and international partners), business management (human resource management, cost, transportation, tax, and accounting management) by experienced business consultants through the following support programs.
