Walailak University Hosts Activities Booth to Educate Youth on Waste Disposal Methods at THASALA COFFEE SPIRIT SIP&SUN Event
On May 18-19, 2024, Walailak University, as a member of the Waste Management Network surrounding the campus, participated in the “SIP & SUN – Thasala Coffee Spirit” event at Bo Non Beach, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The university organized various activities to educate youth on effective waste disposal methods to mitigate environmental issues. These included exhibitions on marine debris problems, the establishment of waste segregation stations, and campaigns promoting cloth bags instead of plastic ones, featuring personalized bag painting sessions. Participants also enjoyed games and received numerous gifts, making the learning experience engaging and enjoyable.
This initiative shows the active participation of students in environmental conservation efforts, highlighting a student-led society engaging with sustainability. In collaborating with local administrative organizations through the “Collaborative Project to Enhance the Efficiency of Waste Management in the University’s Surrounding Areas for the Year 2024,” led by Mr. Phusit Horpet, the program successfully mobilized communities to learn proper waste segregation and management techniques. These efforts aim to reduce waste volume, enhance environmental quality, and establish sustainable waste management practices for the future. Such endeavors contribute to strengthening communities and promoting sustainable development, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 12 (Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
