Walailak University Organizes ‘Pharmacy Walk-Run’ to Strengthen Alumni Relations and Build Networks for Local Development

On March 17, 2024, the Pharmacy Student Association of the School of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Center for Academic Services at Walailak University, organized the ‘Walailak Pharmacy Walk-Run.’ This event was integrated with activities aimed at strengthening alumni relations and building networks to foster local development under the ‘Network Relations for Sustainable Local Development’ project.

The event, held at Walailak University, was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, the university’s president, who presided over the ceremony. The participation exceeded 1,000 individuals, including current students, alumni, and staff from both within and outside the university. This initiative exemplifies student involvement in sustainably promoting health awareness and community engagement, highlighting the role of a student-led society.

The event emphasized the importance of personal health care, provided education on the dangers of smoking, and promoted the correct use of antibiotics to reduce antimicrobial resistance. Additionally, it served to strengthen bonds between current students and alumni, fostering networks that contribute to both present and future local development. These efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which focuses on building collaborations with various networks and related agencies, and Goal 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages), which aims to guarantee healthy lives and promote well-being for all.
