The Local Education Program on Environmental Management Training to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Address Climate Change

The target group consisted of 25 people, including:
1. Students: 10 people
2. Staff: 15 people
Total hours of the activity: 5 hours

On August 14, 2024, Walailak University, led by Asst.Prof.Dr. Chuthamat Rattikansukha, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Laksanara Khwanchum, Asst.Prof.Dr. Kamon Thinsurat, and ACTING.SUB-LT. Worawit Pradittakarn (Lecturer), along with students from the School of Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with the Center for Academic Services, provided local education program on climate change risks to raise awareness of environmental management, greenhouse gas reduction, and climate change adaptation in Ban Laem Community, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

This initiative is part of the UI GreenMetric 2024 movement, aligning with SDG 13 (Climate Action) through six key projects: Education and Research (ED), Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Transportation Management (TR) and Water (WR).
The activity aimed to enhance community engagement in greenhouse gas reduction by encouraging waste separation at the source and fostering environmental awareness among local residents and business owners in Ban Laem. The initiative aligns with UI GreenMetric principles and SDG 13, Target 13.3.1, which focuses on education and awareness programs regarding climate change.
