Planning, implementation, monitoring and/or evaluation of all programs related to Setting and Infrastructure through the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Walailak University places strong emphasis on developing its infrastructure and environment in line with the Green University concept and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university prioritizes efficient land use, the expansion of green spaces, environmental conservation, and resource management to ensure ecological balance, minimize environmental impacts, and enhance the quality of life for students, staff, and surrounding communities.
Key approaches include:
· Allocating over 50% of the total campus area as green and open spaces to support biodiversity, reduce air temperature and pollution, and provide natural learning environments.
· Designing and renovating buildings in accordance with Green Building standards, ensuring equal access and inclusiveness for all, while emphasizing efficient use of energy, water, and materials. ICT systems such as Smart Building technologies and dashboards are integrated for effective facility management.
· Developing sustainable public utilities and transportation systems, including electric shuttle buses, EV charging stations, bicycle lanes, and pedestrian pathways that are safe and accessible for both general users and persons with disabilities.
· Utilizing a real-time monitoring dashboard to track and manage land use, analyze trends, identify areas for improvement, and support transparent reporting according to UI GreenMetric indicators.
Planning
The university has established strategies and policies for infrastructure and land use management, focusing on expanding green spaces, promoting clean energy, ensuring safety, and providing inclusive and equitable facilities. Information and Communication Technology (ICT), along with dashboards, are employed to set measurable and transparent sustainability targets.
Implementation
Key initiatives include developing green spaces and plantation areas across the campus, constructing and renovating academic buildings, sheltered walkways, lighting systems, and clearly separated traffic routes with signage. Additional efforts include bicycle lanes, EV charging and parking stations, and the operation of electric shuttle buses. A centralized data system and dashboard are implemented to support infrastructure and resource management.
Monitoring
The university continuously monitors and records infrastructure and land use data using dashboards as the main tool for real-time reporting. This enables trend analysis, identification of areas for improvement, and provision of policy-relevant insights for university management.
Evaluation
The effectiveness of infrastructure and land use management is evaluated both quantitatively and qualitatively. Indicators include the proportion of green areas relative to the total campus area and the overall impact on the quality of life of students and staff. Data collected are reported in accordance with UI GreenMetric indicators and are used to refine strategies for continuous improvement in subsequent years.
Revision
Walailak University maintains green spaces with high biodiversity and ensures their efficient utilization for teaching and learning purposes. The university continuously monitors and regulates the use of these areas to balance educational activities with environmental sustainability.
