WU EV buses operate within the dormitory zone, providing easy access to classrooms, university buildings, and key facilities.
Walailak University provides a sustainable campus transportation system through the operation of nine electric shuttle buses, which are offered free of charge on a regular schedule. The service covers both on-campus routes and surrounding areas, connecting major destinations such as educational and academic buildings, student and staff residential zones, sports complexes, Walailak University Medical Center Hospital, the central library, the university park, and nearby shopping centers. The shuttle service is available daily from 07:00 to 21:00 hrs. The system has been designed to ensure accessibility and inclusiveness for all users. Each bus is equipped with free Wi-Fi and integrated with real-time vehicle tracking systems accessible via the WU APP and Via Bus applications, enabling users to conveniently monitor bus locations and service schedules. Moreover, the service is fully accessible to persons with disabilities and individuals requiring special assistance.
In addition to shuttle buses, the university also provides electric tram services dedicated to transporting students and staff to the Walailak University Botanical Garden. This facilitates academic activities, experiential learning in natural environments, and visits to the Natural History Museum. Through these initiatives, Walailak University demonstrates its strong commitment to sustainable transportation by reducing dependence on combustion-engine vehicles and actively promoting zero-emission mobility within and around the campus.
Walailak University has established a comprehensive policy to reduce the use of private vehicles within its campus. The policy promotes the use of public transportation, carpooling for those traveling along the same routes, and the adoption of electric vehicles. It also includes measures to control the number of vehicles entering the campus through a University Access Card system, as well as the improvement of pedestrian and bicycle pathways to ensure user safety and convenience. These initiatives aim to enhance environmental sustainability, reduce air pollution, and create a safe and eco-friendly transportation environment for students, faculty, and staff. The key initiatives are as follows:
Car Sharing Program
The university provides shuttle services for staff members to reduce the use of private vehicles, particularly for those commuting from outside the campus. This initiative encourages shared transportation among personnel traveling along the same routes, replacing individual car use with university-operated shuttle services.
