“Asst. Prof. Apirak Bumyut delivers a lecture on sustainable business and carbon footprint management at the Regional Industrial Seminar”
On July 18, 2025, Asst. Prof. Apirak Bumyut, Assistant Dean of the School of Public Health and lecturer in the Environmental Health Program, Walailak University, was invited to speak at a seminar aimed at gathering opinions to promote local industrial development. The event was held under the theme “Supporting Entrepreneurs for a Sustainable Future through Innovation, Technology, and the Green Economy” at Kaew Samui Resort, Surat Thani Province.
The seminar was presided over by Mr. Aeknath Promphan, Minister of Industry, who delivered a Ted Talk titled “Empowered to Transform: Driving Green Futures through Innovation.” The event was attended by around 400 participants, including local entrepreneurs, government officials, and other stakeholders.
During his session, Asst. Prof. Apirak delivered a lecture on “Sustainable Development Concepts toward Environmental Impact Management, Community Participation, and Carbon Footprint Assessment Standards for Organizations and Products.” He emphasized the importance of conducting sustainable business practices and measuring environmental impacts through carbon footprint assessments, highlighting their crucial role in driving the green economy in the industrial sector.

Conference for Building Disaster Response Projects: Harnessing All Sectors Toward Sustainable Disaster Management.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Supaporn Yimthieng, Dean of the School of Public Health, Walailak University, delivered the opening remarks at the “Workshop on Developing Projects for Disaster Preparedness in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Upper Southern Thailand.” The event brought together representatives from the public, private, academic, and local sectors to collaboratively develop integrated plans aimed at reducing disaster risks in the region.
Building on the success of the previous forum, “Nakhon Si Thammarat Synergy for Disaster Preparedness”, held in May with over 140 participants and 48 concept proposals submitted, the workshop utilized a “Mind Storming” process to enhance collaboration, minimize redundancy, and design projects that effectively address local needs.
This workshop marks a significant step toward policy and practical collaboration for systematic and sustainable disaster management. Its ultimate goal is to ensure that all sectors share ownership of disaster management plans, thereby enhancing community safety and resilience now and in the future.
Strengthening Nakhon Si Thammarat Communities to Tackle Emerging Disasters.
Organized in collaboration with the Kon Hen Kon Foundation, under the support of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth).
The event was presided over by Mr. Somchai Leelanoi, Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, with participation from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichitphan Rorwong, Acting Director of the Institute for Research and Innovation Promotion toward Excellence, Walailak University, together with the Dean, faculty members, and researchers from the School of Public Health, as well as representatives from civil society, government, local authorities, and the private sector.
The forum brought together 140 participants and presented 44 concept proposals for research projects aimed at addressing disaster-related challenges in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
Meeting of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Climate Change Working Committee for the Year 2025
On May 30, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President of Walailak University, together with the Deputy Director of the Academic Service Center and staff, attended the 1st Meeting of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Climate Change Working Group (2025) held at Sriwichai Meeting Room, Nakhon Si Thammarat City Hall.
The meeting was organized under the framework of advancing Thailand’s national climate change policy at the provincial level, aiming to gather opinions, exchange information, and discuss collaborative approaches among government agencies, academic institutions, and related sectors. The goal was to strengthen the province’s capacity to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
During the meeting, Walailak University presented academic support strategies and proposed the utilization of research data to develop the provincial climate action plan, including greenhouse gas emission assessments and carbon reduction initiatives at the local level.
The university’s participation reflects its strong commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) through the integration of academic knowledge, research, and collaboration with local agencies, driving Nakhon Si Thammarat toward sustainable development and enhancing resilience to future environmental challenges.
