Promoting Conscious Water Usage and Efficient Water Management: Fostering Campus-Wide Water Conservation Initiatives
Walailak University actively promotes conscious and efficient water usage on campus by conducting awareness campaigns to foster a sense of responsibility among its staff, emphasizing the importance of water conservation and mindful water usage. These efforts aim to ensure that all members of the university community recognize the significance of preserving water resources and using them efficiently.
Walailak University encourages staff, students, and visitors to be aware of and contribute to water conservation. The university has placed signs and implemented the measurement that is water-saving measures, such as encouraging reduced water use, using water only when necessary, checking for leaks, and turning off taps while brushing teeth or after use. These signs are displayed in various areas across the campus, including outside and inside restrooms, as well as in kitchen areas. Additionally, the university communicates water conservation efforts through electronic signs, internal memos, Facebook pages, and its website. Water usage is regulated according to the opening and closing hours of offices, and any damaged equipment in restrooms is promptly repaired by the building maintenance department after being reported.
Also, the university has developed a systematic water management plan, producing its tap water for on-campus use. In 2023, the university actively promoted conscious water usage, with various departments driving campaigns to raise awareness among students and staff about the significance of water, its sources, and the benefits of water conservation for consumption. All departments collaborated to use water efficiently and participated in campaigns to actively promote conscious water usage and conservation on campus from the departmental level to the university-wide level. Each department organized activities to encourage conscious water usage practices and shared their engagement with the wider community through their respective websites. The use of signage and promotional materials about water usage has been a key strategy to remind staff and students of the importance of conserving water in their daily lives. Additionally, the university conducted training sessions for students and staff on water quality, conscious water usage, and water conservation. Frequent water quality diagnostics were carried out to ensure that both tap water and recycled water used on campus were safe for consumption.
