Childcare Facility Provision for WU Staff and Students

Walailak University has partnered and engaged with Wat Khok Lek Early Childhood Development Center and Chumchon Satit Walailak Pattana Early Childhood Development Center to provide free childcare services for staff, faculty, and students. This initiative aims to support female students who have recently become mothers, allowing them to continue their university studies. The childcare centers are conveniently situated near the university in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, offering easy access for university members and the local community.

Both centers implement an educational program based on the HighScope Preschool Curriculum, developed in collaboration with Walailak University. This partnership focuses on enhancing early childhood education by incorporating academic research, community outreach, and student volunteer initiatives. The program ensures that all enrolled children have equal access to quality education.

The curriculum emphasizes active learning, encouraging children to explore, ask questions, and participate in hands-on activities. It focuses on essential developmental areas such as language, literacy, cognitive skills, and social development, guided by a structured daily routine. At Wat Khok Lek Early Childhood Development Center, teachers apply intentional teaching practices that support children’s learning while giving them opportunities to make choices and follow their own interests. This method fosters independent thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, preparing young learners for future academic success.

The WU Pediatric Clinic

The WU Pediatric Clinic, located at Walailak University Hospital, continues to offer free, comprehensive healthcare services for the children of students, staff, and faculty members. The clinic remains committed to supporting the university community by providing routine check-ups, vaccinations, and general pediatric care. This ongoing service allows students to focus on their studies and enables staff and faculty to perform their duties without added concern for their children’s healthcare needs. Students and staff can access these services by contacting the clinic directly or visiting in person.

The clinic provides specialized healthcare services for newborn infants up to one month old, including immediate medical attention in case of illness and access to essential vaccinations. For female staff and students who are breastfeeding, the clinic also offers free facilities to support maternal and child health, including refrigerators for breastmilk storage and electric breast pumps. WU shall conduct diagnostic analyses and measure female student and staff participation to support them as they become new mothers, ensuring that their studies and careers are not impeded.
