Currently, Walailak University is implementing water conservation projects and promoting conscious water usage in wider communities, while also providing knowledge to local farmers to help them plan and implement water-saving measures and reduce water consumption.In 2023, the university organized free training sessions to raise awareness of conscious water usage in wider community including local residents and various organizations in the area. Sustainability and Stewardship Walailak University implements sustainable water extraction and management systems on campus, with dedicated conservation areas for storing water to ensure an adequate supply for consumption and domestic use within the university. Also, the existence of sustainable water extraction technologies is for flood control, irrigation, and the use as drinking water. The university has a system in place to produce tap water from raw water extracted from reservoirs that collect rainwater during each season. Through policies and water management strategies, the university actively promotes its vision of becoming a green, happy, and sustainable university. Currently, Walailak University consistently measures the reuse of water across the university through its Waste Management Center, ensuring continuous reuse of treated water. In 2023, the university treated 200-400 cubic meters of wastewater daily, as measured by flow meters. The university is also continuously improving its wastewater management system using technological advancements. The university has implemented policies to reduce tap water usage and enhance water management efficiency on campus for optimal benefits. Efforts have been made to increase water use efficiency, reduce water consumption across the university, and control water usage to prevent increases by applying building standards to minimize water usage. In 2023, Walailak University installed water-saving sanitary ware in all newly constructed and renovated buildings, such as the Cooperative Education Building, ST Building or Lecture Building 6, and Academic Building 9.
