The university has implemented policies and initiatives to promote zero-emission vehicles, reduce dependence on combustion-engine vehicles, enhance road safety, and improve accessibility for students, staff, and the surrounding community. Its on-campus transportation system is systematically managed through five key stages: Planning, Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Revision.Planning      During the planning stage, the university participated in a policy planning meeting aimed at reducing the use of internal combustion engine vehicles within the campus. Transportation (TR)          Walailak University has developed a comprehensive pedestrian pathway system that connects all major campus buildings. These walkways are equipped with adequate lighting and safety barriers that clearly separate pedestrian areas from vehicle traffic. Handrails are installed in certain areas to enhance safety, particularly where there are differences in elevation. All walkways are covered with roofs to protect users from unfavorable weather conditions, such as intense sunlight or heavy rain. In addition, the pathways are designed with gentle slopes to accommodate changes in elevation and ensure accessibility for all, including individuals with special mobility needs. This is in line with the university’s policy to reduce the use of private vehicles and to promote the adoption of electric shuttle services for students and staff instead. Consequently, certain parking areas have been repurposed into spaces for student extracurricular activities and community engagement. Examples include the “Open World of Activities” event in 2025, where a parking area was transformed into the Next Gen Learning Building; the weekly “Jan Pradu Market” held every Monday evening at the parking lot near academic buildings; the BOTA Market organized every Thursday; outdoor movie screenings at the Botanical Garden parking area; and the Khlong Din Market held every Tuesday. This is part of the university's campaign to reduce the use of personal cars and encourage students and staff to use the electric shuttle bus service.
